OBITUARY

Brian first showed Boxers in 1972 under his and Margaret's, his wife's prefix Marbrian and had enjoyed showing them until recent years, when boxers became a little strong for him to handle and he had lost the last of his line, he then obtained a very nice French Bulldog and continued showing him until recently. Brian is mainly known in the South of England for the long service he gave to the Chichester & District Canine Society, firstly as a Committee member and then for nearly 25 years plus as their Chairman - during which time he worked tirelessly to encourage new members at the Club's weekly Ringcraft Classes - introducing new handlers to other more experienced members who could help with their breeds. Brian was also always at the Club's Open Shows which included many successful 2 days shows in the 1980's continuing up to this year when after retiring as Chairman, Brian was invited to become the club's President when the position became vacant. Brian's other great passion was horse racing and many a happy hour was spent at his local racecourse Goodwood , here at Chichester, and would tell all how the horse he'd fancied was still running,- or that he'd had a very 'successful' day . His funeral last Friday was attended by many dog folk from past committee members to present day committee and many other friends who had known Brian over the years. He will be very sorely missed by all who knew him and especially by all of us at Chichester & District Canine Society for his kindness and helpfulness to all he met.
